According to experiments performed Mangahigh.com, popular gaming sites in the UK, computer games can improve math skills of children. The gaming site, offering games that use math skills used in the national curriculum. They later carried out tests on children from 12 schools in Scotland. The test lasted for 12 weeks. According Mangahigh, the average mathematics score of students who were tested rose 13 percent after using these gaming sites. While 93 percent of students admitted that they would enjoy math if computer games are used to study science.
"The program proved to be useful as a means games that stimulate better education of teachers or students," said Derek Robertson, from Learning and Teaching Scotland, as quoted from the PC Advisor VIVAnews, May 3, 2010. "It is very important for us to ensure our students thrive in communities that depend heavily on computers," he said.
From experiments, it was revealed that 68 percent of students say that want to improve their math skills in order to achieve a higher value when playing games in Mangahigh.com.
Meanwhile, more than half of the teachers involved claim that their students get a better progress in mathematics after using these games as compared to using traditional teaching methods.
